Contemporary Sophistication… and Exquisite Belgian-French Cuisine

Alexandre is an exciting new Belgian restaurant in Monte Biarritz, conveniently located just after the Benahavís exit on the N340 highway going towards Estepona. Highly-acclaimed Belgian chef Alexandre Lambert (who many may recognise from Casamono, Casanis and Macaao Beach Club), together with top Belgian interior designer and maître-d Maurice Israel, created this exceptional restaurant that oozes style and sophistication in a contemporary environment.

Home & Lifestyle Magazine was invited down to enjoy an evening with this innovative duo and their team to try out some of their delectable dishes…

As we approached Alexandre we were met by a very attractive gated terrace with long wooden bench-style tables and chairs, a delightful fountain, oversized lamps and an elegant chill-out area made up of pale teak wood furniture pieces. The terrace is well-designed, offering an al fresco dining experience that is Alexachic and at the same time easy-going.

Once we had passed through the terrace and started to enter the restaurant, we were immediately struck by the impressive décor. The way Maurice has designed Alexandre is unique but at the same time it makes you feel very much at home.

There is an extremely original open kitchen almost in the centre of the restaurant where chef Alexandre, alongside his wife Ana, can be seen meticulously constructing his exquisite dishes. To the left of the kitchen are more bench-style tables that run along the side of a beautiful crushed orange velvet bench seat that spans the whole length of the wall. The velvet gives a really sumptuous look that is counter-balanced by the informal wooden furniture, floors and wall, offering an ambience that is luxurious, relaxed and well thought out.

The menu is small and select, with just four or five carefully selected options per course, which are changed at least once a week to offer variety. While visiting Alexandre, we spotted the likes of tempora Gillardeau oysters in fine champagne sauce; a grilled turbot with risotto, king crab, asparagus and truffle oil; lobster and scallops with a lobster bisque cappuccino and coconut milk; and a fresh beef tartare served with fries. Everything looked fresh, extremely well-presented and with good portioned sizes. We also noticed a wide range of wines, originating from all over the world and including a good selection of champagnes and cava.

The staff are friendly and helpful and you can see they work well together. There are plans to hold some interesting events such as jazz sessions and cigar nights, so Alexandre will be the new venue to keep your eye on if you want a night that ticks boxes all round!

Alexandre is open for dinner every evening, and from October they will also be open for lunch.
