SILKEN BLEND OF CONTEMPORARY AND TRADITIONAL DESIGN ON SHOW AT DECOREX

The longest-standing design and interior show held in conjunction with London Design Festival, Decorex 2013 moved to a new location, Perks Field & The Orangery (Kensington Palace), where more than 300 companies exhibited
their latest products.
Ranging from contemporary, traditional and bespoke furniture to lighting, floor coverings, fabrics and wall coverings, accessories and bespoke services, they showcased outstanding quality, stunning materials and superb craftsmanship.

In addition to such highlighted exhibitions as Amy Kent’s hand-knotted wool and silk carpets, Habibi Interiors’ new range of customised panels and Cox London’s latest collection of handmade lighting and furniture (designed and produced in London), other product typologies featured on the exhibitor stands included hand-painted organzas, glass chandeliers, bone china lighting, hand-carved water gilded furniture, complex textiles, luxury tableware and high quality metalwork.

The theme of the show was the Silk Route, in reference to when silks, porcelain and other luxury goods were introduced to Europe, and interpreted into the design of the main entrance – in 2013 the responsibility of interior designer and hotelier Kit Kemp.

Other main features of this year’s show included a central Champagne Bar created by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. The design sought to “demonstrate the studio’s love for the interior design process and capture the excitement of the build phase of a project in its rawest state”.
The 2014 Decorex will be held at the same venue, from 21 to 24 September: www.decorex.com
