In recent months Torremolinos has been launching a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing the iconic tourist municipality’s image as much more than sun, sea, sangria – and fried fish. In June, the town hall opened a new online municipal gastronomy office ( aimed at coordinating the town’s culinary activities and establishing a quality brand. During its official presentation at the seaside Sol House Aloha Meliá hotel, presided over by the mayor José Ortiz, website coordinator Lutz Petry and leading food critic Enrique Bellver, media and industry representatives (including Home & Lifestyle Magazine) enjoyed an exclusive show cooking demonstration by the “Caviar Chef” Diego Gallegos, whose Sollo restaurant in Reserva del Higuerón received a Michelin star last year, and savoured a special cocktail created for the occasion by Juan Miguel Moreno.
