Cool Summer Nights
One excellent way to escape the heat of summer this year – and enjoy a stunningly verdant, plant-filled setting – is to pay an evening visit to the La Concepción botanical gardens just outside Málaga city. In July and August, the gardens will be open every Wednesday night, with actors in period dress explaining their origins and main features.
Created in the mid-19th century by the Marquess and Marchioness of Loring, the gardens are home to an exquisite open-air collection of tropical and sub-tropical flora, including plant species from Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Oceania.
In addition to individual prices (€18 for adults, €16 for children 16-andunder and pensioners), a special offer for families is available, €40 for two adults and two children. Bookings can be made by telephone on 951 926 180 from 9.30am to 7.30pm or 620 605 769.
